I am a highly experienced and confident Newborn and Family Photographer near to Chester, Cheshire. I chase beautiful light create magic.
Time flies by so fast, from the moment your little one arrives...lets make sure you have memories to treasure...
Newborns
For me, those priceless moments are the natural, 'unposed' ones, capturing babies movements, expressions and details that make them who they are. I follow babies lead, capturing natural moments and connection. Although I absolutely love “older newborn” sessions, I do still recommend those first two weeks for a super curly and sleepy newborn session.
Older Newborns
With seeing so many “older newborns” lately, it’s only right that they get their own portfolio so that you can see how incredible they are…
Maternity
Maternity Sessions are a perfect way to celebrate your body, as it is, and the miracle that you're growing inside. These sessions usually take place in my home studio, where you can relax and enjoy the moment, all about you, the parents.
Older Children & Families
I absolutely love seeing my families back again and meeting new families who simply want to celebrate every moment...we have smiles, cuddles and lots of giggles, not to mention those precious little looks and details that make your little one the individual that they are...
Outdoors
Whilst I always try to capture that one picture postcard with everyone looking, my aim is to capture real emotions and smiles whilst your family are having fun and creating memories.
Every session is unique
I absolutely love the art that I can create with each session and I ensure that you have the most perfect experience, tailored to your needs. Whether you are first time parents, or have older siblings, be sure that we will capture the uniqueness of your family.
Prepare to feel incredible
I have my own little client closet, with beautiful dresses for mum (some of which can be used for breastfeeding also) and an assortment of sibling and baby clothes, taking away any worries about what to wear on the day. You may however wish to use your own clothes, and this is absolutely fine. I can guide you as much or as little as you need.

About Me
…the boring (but I guess fairly important) bit!
I’ve avoided for a long time now writing any more than just a sentence or two on my “about me” page, but you’re inviting me into your wonderful families, so I owe it to you to share a bit more of myself.
So who am I?
Well, I heard a fellow photographer once describe herself as a people loving introvert and I think this could pretty much sum me up too. I’m quite shy and don’t always put myself out there, but I absolutely love meeting new people, and spending time with friends. I'm generally carefree, but I worry about everything imaginable to do with my children. My wardrobe, my home and my studio is very neutral, but I love colours and florals and extravagance. I guess you could say I'm a walking contradiction...and I've just learnt to be ok with that!
My family is my everything.
If you were to see me walking down the street these days, I’d probably either be chasing my gregarious little girl or being taken for a walk by our Cavapoo!
I’ve not always been a photographer, but I’ve always had a passion and an eye for art (or so my primary school teacher told me, so that must be true right?!) and when I was a child, I would often be found with the camera in my hand. I picked up a camera again, maybe like you, when I had my own babies. It was only when my second was a few months old though, did I realise that I missed out on having pictures with me in them (other than selfies) when they were so tiny! I desperately didn’t want anyone else to miss out on that, or to miss having pictures of their little ones full stop (becoming a mum can be a daunting new world and we don’t always have chance to pull out the “big camera”). So I studied hard and spent a long time learning (and following around my not always willing children…being a photographers child is hard!) and here I am, ready to be there to capture your moments. Those first sleepy days and those incredible bear hugs that one day you’ll be longing for (although I really hope the cuddles never stop!).
So that’s me in a nutshell, Samantha Dempster of Samantha D Photography, mum of two beautiful boys and now a wonderful girl, my world and my inspiration....with a love for details and golden light and a passion for seeing the beauty in everything and everyone.
My dream is simple, to provide memories that capture details and emotion, which can forever be cherished, whilst being a mummy my boys can be proud of.
